Alberta’s chief medical officer of health says another 96 cases of COVID 19 were confirmed in Alberta in the past 24 hours, for a total of 968. Dr. Deena Hinshaw also reporting two more deaths from the virus…a man in his 90’s and another man in his 80’s. The death toll from COVID 19 in Alberta now stands at 13. Dr. Hinshaw says Alberta Health officials conducted more than 4000 tests over the past 24 hours and 98 percent of those tests were negative for the virus. She says 174 patients have also recovered. Dr. Hinshaw is calling for tougher measures at long term care homes across the province to try and control the spread of the virus to the most vulnerable, including notifying Alberta Health if a new case of the virus is suspected. Dr. Hinshaw also pointed out that by the end of today, there will very likely be a million reported cases of COVID 19 globally.
