A big jump in the number of COVID 19 cases in Alberta. The province recorded another 117 cases in the past day for a total of 871. There were two additional deaths recorded for a total of 11. Premier Jason Kenney says the spike in the number of cases was due to the fact, Alberta Health performed more than 4000 tests in a single day, including some that were backlogged. Despite the grim news, the premier says only 2 percent of tests on Albertans have come back positive. Kenney says he’s confident the province has the healthcare personnel and equipment to cope with anticipated hospitalizations including patients requiring treatment in ICU’s. The premier also heaped praise on the work being done by healthcare workers and also had high praise for truckers and the work they’re doing to move food and supplies across Alberta.
