-Edmonton’s Interim city manager is taking some heat again today for his decision to cut back on the number of buses on the street during the Covid-19 outbreak. Things were moved to a Saturday schedule, but given that a lot of people still needed to take public transit and there weren’t enough buses to go ’round, they were packed in like sardines.
At a time when people are supposed to be social-distancing at the very least, they sent the Mayor a rash of complaints. So more buses were added back in, but not on every route. City Manager Adam Laughlin says he thinks the scale back was the right decision. Many transit riders say he obviously doesn’t take the bus himself.
-And we just learned this morning that 60 transit employees are self-isolating. That’s according to the Deputy city manager. The city may have more details on that this afternoon.
